Have you always wanted to learn to sew, but aren’t sure where to start? Well, I’m here to help! Today I have a list of 12 simple sewing projects for beginners, and they’re so fun and so easy that {seriously!} anyone could do it. Take a look and see which one you’d like to do first.
1. If you’re like me, you like to have two things on hand when you leave the house: your keys and a chapstick. This project is for you! Make a cute keychain chapstick holder that will help you easily carry both.
2. Summer is the perfect time for this project. Make a beach towel tote that’s as cute as it is easy to sew.
3. Yes, you can make a baby blanket {or two!}. Namely, these jumbo reversible receiving blankets. See Happy Hooligans for a step-by-step tutorial.
4. Celebrate a next birthday in style. Create this easy birthday banner!
5. Make the weather feel a little warmer by sewing this DIY ear warmer headband.
6. Pajama pants are one of the easiest projects a beginning sewer can make. See how at Living Well, Spending Less.
7. If you can sew a baby blanket {and believe me, you can} then you can also sew some matching burp cloths. You’ll be set for your next baby shower gift!
8. Get some cute fabric and stitch up this adorable mini messenger bag. What will you carry in it?
9. Take your Kindle on vacation in style with a simple Kindle case you can sew in minutes.
10. This bib is just a flat-out necessity for any toddler you know. And it’s quick and super easy to make!
11. Why buy a key fob when you could make one like this? Any of these would make a great gift, too.
12. Tote bags are so easy to make, you could make a new one every week if you wanted.

Tried going to the link to make beach towel tote, but apparently one has to be “invited” to go to that site.

They changed their site! So sorry, I’ve updated the link to show you another way to do it.

I would like the pattern the white polka dot shoulder bag with the pink dot lining on the first page. It has sun glasses and keys and some pencil/pens showing in the photo. Is there a link for that pattern?
Kate says
Hello! 🙂 Yes, there is a link to the pattern. That bag is on slide 9/13. It’s the 8th pattern we show. “mini messenger bag” is highlighted and underlined. If you click on it, it’ll direct you to the page where the pattern can be found 🙂 Let us know how it turns out!
