Road trips are an awesome way to see the country we live in. But if you have kids, it can definitely be a challenge to keep them entertained. They may not always care about what’s out the window as you travel from point A to point B. Today’s post is going to help you keep the kids busy on your next road trip, and it won’t cost you a cent. Check out these 12 totally free travel games for kids!
1.One of the easiest free travel games for kids {of all ages!} is to play “I’m thinking of an animal….” or 20 Questions in the car. No reading or writing is required, only your thinking cap.
2. Print up a free travel memory game and make sure the kids have pencils and paper for the trip. They get to study the picture for one minute, then they get two minutes to quickly draw everything they can remember.
3. Spot that license plate! Each state’s plate is worth a certain number of points. The first person to spot it gets the points. See who wins at the end of the trip.
4. How many words can your kids make out of the phrase “a road trip?” Let them try with a road trip scrabble game.
5. My kids love playing a few different versions of an A to Z game in the car. This one challenges everyone in the car to spot objects that start with every letter of the alphabet.
6. Find the link at the end of this post to print up a free travel game booklet for each child in your family. This will keep them busy for hours!
7. With license letters, your kids first color each car as they choose. On the road, they have to write down the license plate number when they spot a car in their chosen colors. Once that’s complete, they will use the license plate letters to make words.
8. Taking your trip by plane? Print up some airplane coloring pages to keep the kids occupied in the air.
9. Paper dolls are a great road trip activity for girls. Print up some freebies they’ll love.
10. Your kids can stay connected to their best friends back at home with this game of Pretty Postcards.
11. The kids need to learn to watch the road signs to play Sign Maze and find their way home.
12. Print Travel Detour, mount it on cardstock, and the kids can use pennies as game pieces to play as you drive.
