- Mudrooms will help your house be so much cleaner! Install a mudroom in your garage so no dirty boots, shoes, backpacks, bags, etc., end up in the house.
- Build a jumbo tape dispenser that holds all of the kinds of tape you need without all the wasted space. Just slide the tape in the slot!
- Using PVC pipe, build a tool storage system that is incredibly efficient. Simply use a closed off part for the bottom and some open ones to hold the tools in place.
- Garages often have high ceilings, so they’re great for added storage. Build a firm system that hold containers and bins without taking up any floor space.
- Pegboards are your best friend when it comes to garages. You can use it to store tools big and small. So find a way to incorporate it into your garage and go for it.
- A battery dispenser is really great when you only have one hand free and don’t want to rifle around for the perfect battery. Just slip them into their slots and pull one out whenever you need it.
- Put nails and screws in a jar and then attach a magnet to the top of the lid. Now you can store the magnetized jar on a magnet slab and never have to worry about losing or mixing up your screws and nails ever again.
- You can also use magnets to store your tools! Make sure the magnet is strong enough, and then just place your tools on it for great storage.
- Take an old garden pallet and use that to store tools against the wall. You can paint the color, if needed, or just stick the pallet right against your wall.
- Putting tables are great if you do a lot of gardening prep in the garage. Potting tables give you space to prepare the plants, nurture the seeds, and take care of any potted plant issues.
- Using a lumber ladder keeps things organized and makes it a lot more efficient as well. Starting from the bottom and going up, store your biggest pieces of wood and lumber.
- If you do a lot of painting in your garage, then you might as well just install a permanent paint booth. It’s super easy to make; you just hang up the plastic sheets in a corner of the garage and leave everything sealed but the entrance.
- Keep sports balls in order by using bungee cords. Simply stretch them across two pieces of wood and store the balls behind them.
- Build your own locker storage for your garage that can be used for multiple things. You can add it to your mudroom, store tools in it, or just keep decorations in there. Whatever works for you.
- Wall shelving is a great asset for the garage. You simply install it on all the walls you can, and it doubles or even triples your storage space! You’re not going to use the walls for anything else, so you might as well!
- A tool rack is always really helpful because it keeps all your tools in order. By attaching handles and knobs, you can keep even more tools and equipment stored together.
- Space is always an issue for garages, especially small ones. By building a foldable work bench, you can keep the clutter to a minimum and just pull out the bench whenever you need it.
- Take an old filing cabinet, repaint it if you want, and then put it on it’s side. You can now use it for tool storage—just stick your rakes, shovels, and other items in it.
- Attach a pool noodle (or half of one) to the wall right where you normally park your car. That way, if someone opens the door too fast, the blow is softened by the pool noodle.
- Storage towers are really helpful in garages. You can keep everything you need all in one spot with taking up as little floor space as possible.
- Make your own bike rack out of PVC pipe. It’s pretty simple, just make it sturdy enough to hold all the bikes you plan to park in it.
- Use old crates to create some great wall storage. Simply attach them to the wall and put items in the crates that you need easy access to.
- Attach your heavy duty garbage bags to rods that you can use to easily unroll them. This allows you to get a garbage bag without having to take lots of time and both hands to get them.
- Build a drill charging station where you can store your cordless drill and all the parts and pieces you need for it. Simple, easy, and incredibly helpful.
- By attaching a few well-placed hooks on the wall, you can get some vertical bike storage that saves tons of space. You simply hang your bike by the front tire on the hook and you’re set!
- Build wall hangers that you can use or your recycle bins. It keeps them clean, off the ground, and will help you remember to use the recycling bins and actually take them out when needed.
- Build super easy screwdriver storage. Just take a piece of wood and drill holes in it the size of the screwdriver blades. Just slide your screwdriver into the hole.
- If you really have some skill, apply an epoxy floor coating to your garage. It can take a beating, plus it just makes your garage look so much better.
- Use pieces of PVC pipe to build storage for your smaller tools. Attach them vertically to a piece of wood so the screwdrivers, pencils, and levels don’t fall out.
- For a small garage, try this. Make pegboard storage, but attach them to hinges so you can pull them in and out. When they’re not in use, they lay flat against the wall!
- By using just a few pieces of wood, you can get an easy to make tool rack. Take a flat piece of wood and cut a notch into it. Simply slide your tool (like a rake) into the notch until it’s securely fit in!
- Label everything in your garage, even if you think you don’ t need to. Labels are easy to make and use, and help you and others who go into your garage know where everything is.
- If possible, build a wheeled tool chest, or attach wheels to your current one. When you can push around your tools instead of having to carry them back and forth, it makes things so much easier and faster.
- Build a command center right next to the entrance to your garage. Here, you can store notes, keys, and other items that you need to remember about.
- Attach some simple hooks near the bottom of your walls and store your ladder on them. This keeps the ladder stored safely and out of falling or tripping distance.
