Winter is coming fast, and for many parts of the world, that means freezing temps and icy windshields. I don’t know about you, but scraping an icy windshield is just about one of my least favorite things to do. Ever. {And I live in one of the snowiest places on earth!} Let’s get ahead of Old Man Winter today and learn how to make your own all-natural de-icer. It’s easy and cheaper than the store-bought stuff. Plus, you know what’s in it!
All you need for a homemade de-icing spray is two simple ingredients: water and isopropyl {or rubbing} alcohol.
You will also need a big spray bottle. A bottle that holds at least 16 ounces is perfect.
Now all you have to do is fill your chosen spray bottle one-third full with water, then add two-thirds rubbing alcohol to completely fill up the bottle. Shake the bottle well to thoroughly mix the two ingredients together.
On the next icy-windshield day, grab your handy bottle of homemade de-icing spray. Shake it up, then spray it liberally on the frozen windshield. You will literally be able to watch as the magic happens. As the spray cracks and melts the ice, turn on the wipers {make sure they aren’t stuck to the windshield first!} and swish the melting ice away.
Mom 4 Real says you can also use this spray to de-ice a frozen car door lock. Just spray the lock before you insert the key.
