Just because you have a tiny apartment doesn’t mean you have to feel like you’re living in a tiny apartment. There are some genius decorating tricks you can use to maximize the space you’ve got. Let’s look at 10 ways to make your tiny apartment feel instantly huge.

1.Surprisingly, pushing all the furniture against the wall is not the best way to invoke a spacious feel to a room. Try grouping furniture strategically. Space around the furniture is what lends a bigger feel to an area.

2. Dark paint colors are certainly fun to use to add punch to a space, but they also make your room appear smaller. Use light colors of uniform tone to instantly make a room feel bigger.

3. Use mirrors to instantly enlarge a space. Since mirrors reflect light, hang one opposite a window for an instant brightening effect.

4. Surprisingly, you should opt for dark flooring if you have a choice. Dark flooring lightens the walls by contrast, and also seems to melt away underfoot when you enter a room.

5. Either forgo them altogether {if you can} or use the lightest window treatments you can find. Light, airy curtains in the same color as the wall let as much light into the room as possible. All while still giving you some much needed privacy!

6. Doors really do use up tons of floor space, so wherever you can, just remove them, especially from closets. You really will feel more free!

7. Your eye will appreciate some contrast, so don’t be afraid to use a large piece of art in a small room. It actually draws the eye upward and gives the illusion that the space is as big as the piece.

8. Use “leggy” furniture. It maximizes the sense of air and light in the space.

9. This bathroom feels bigger through the use of all white décor and vertical elements {like the wainscoting and tall shower curtain} that draw the eye up.

10. The final tip is to keep your decorating simple. Like the bare-bones decoration of this master bedroom, simplicity keeps things open and restful.
