I think I have project ADD. I can. not. stop. myself. We currently have the kids bathroom 3/4 the way done, the office completely out of commission, and the dining area under construction. It is a good thing that “funds” help me put the brakes on, because otherwise, my house would always be torn apart.
In my defense, the next project is only *semi* my fault. I was bathing my babies in the other room, I heard a little noise like a broom had fallen down from resting against the wall, or something like that. I didn’t think anything of it (oops) and I continued to bathe, lotion, and clothe my 8 month old and my 4 year old. Then I walked into the kitchen *slash* wading pool. Water was pouring out from under my fridge and I could hear it spraying everywhere. I hurried to pull the fridge out (while frantically calling my husband who was on a business trip.) I turned the valve off and started to hunt down every towel, blanket, etc., we owned. My husband on the phone said “Grab a towel and hurry and dry it up.” Cute. Bless his heart. He had dramatically underestimated the mess I was in.
Long story short- our hallway was wet, our bedroom carpet was wet, our flooring under the fridge was ruined, etc. So instead of laying the carpet in the hallway back down I thought it would be a good idea to just continue the wood floor through the area. It wears better than carpet and that is the main traffic area of my house, from the garage to the kitchen. So, while we have sheet rock dust everywhere, and a room all plastic-ed off, we also have carpet that is pulled up waiting for wood floor. We are laying it in 2 days.
Here is the before picture:
But really looks like this right now:
And we are replacing the carpet with this:
I will post pictures in 2 days, when we have it all done! Wish us luck on this DIY project. There is a first time for everything, right?
