10 Ways to Make Your Staircase Less Boring

10 Ways to Make Your Staircase Less Boring

I am usually a “less is more” kind of decorator, but staircases can be sooo boring!  So, I am looking for a cute way to dress up my staircase or make it a bit more interesting.  Check out these great staircase ideas.  I love them!

Quotes

I found this while walking through a model home and fell in love.  I am NOT a “vinyl quote on every wall” kind of person, but I think this is so adorable.  This staircase leads to an upstairs kids’ loft.  How perfect is this?

Chalkboard

This idea is similar to the previous one, but it’s a little more creative and versatile! Instead of the words being fixed, a chalkboard staircase makes the stairs into a work of art! You can make each level look chic and profession, or your kids can have a blast drawing as well!Staircase2

Frames

Picture frames, mirror, and other cutesy decorations; this is so elegant!  I don’t have a spiral staircase with a rod iron banister, but if I did, I would maybe do this:) Let the frames flow with the curve of the wall and it should look great!

Barnwood

This barnwood wall treatment looks terrific too, right?  I kind-of severely dislike the pictures above it, but I know what they were going for.  Rustic with elegant accent.  I love the mix!  The barnwood is awesome and I am sure I could find something that would look terrific in place of the pictures.  What a fun staircase!

Stumps

I am still deliberating on this next one.  It looked SO TERRIFIC in the home it was in (model home in my ‘hood.)  It is one of those designs that could look really neat, or look totally tacky.  I think it has to be done just right, in the right home.  But really, how crazy is this staircase?  If nothing else, it is a really point of interest in the home and would get a LOT of attention:)

Cool Wall Treatments You've Never Seen Before

Furniture

And my personal favorite (beacuse it is more reasonable for most)-  a piece of accent furniture in the middle or bottom of a staircase.  Most staircases don’t have space for a lot of extras, but I love the idea of sticking a cute bench or table at the bottom of a staircase or a cute gallery wall at the top.

Great Ways to Decorate Staircases

Ombé Paint Job

This depends on your house and the feel you want to give it, but if you’re a party and fun-loving kind of household, then this is a great idea! Choose any color that you want and make each rising staircase just a shade lighter!Staircase

Wallpaper

You may not know this, but wallpaper isn’t just for walls anymore! You can spread the same kind of wallpaper on each stair, or you can choose a different pattern for each step, whichever works for you!Staircase3

Books

This may be an unconventional style, but if you love your books then give it a try! It’s not only unique and creative, but it’s also fun to decide which book titles you want to use.Staircase4

Mini Mirrors

While this may seem strange, it can actually bring a lot of light and energy to your staircase. While small mirrors are more common, you could have full length mirrors across each step, depending on what look you’re going for.Staircase5
