I’m seeing so many pretty layer cakes lately. They seem to be all over Pinterest and Instagram! I definitely want to try my hand at more than just a few of them–how about you? But before I do that, I want to be ready with a beautiful pedestal cake stand to display my {hopefully} equally beautiful creations. The good news is that it is so easy to make your own pedestal cake stand! Here are few examples to inspire us all.
Look at that mouthwatering goodness right there–and of course the dessert-sized cake stand that sets it off perfectly! This one is so easy, thanks to the marble insert in a wooden cheese plate that came from a thrift store. The marble insert is glued to a wood pedestal found at Michaels. Just stain the pedestal however you wish, and use liquid nails for the glue.
With a tart pan and a glass candlestick from Dollar Tree, you can make this fluted pedestal cake stand. No one will ever guess what you started with, thanks to a coat of spray paint.
Snag some of the colorful dishes you can find at Dollar Tree, glue them together like so, and you’ve got a pedestal cake stand that’s perfect for a birthday party.
Here’s a DIY pedestal cake stand that is just plain fun! Spray paint a candlestick and a plate in a pretty color {such as the blue shown} and then glue them together. To add sprinkles, you will need some Mod Podge. Cover the cake stand in Mod Podge, add sprinkles, then cover in more Mod Podge. Repeat layers until you have enough sprinkles to suit your own liking. End with a protective coat of Mod Podge to finish it off.
